JJ and Kim,
My name is Randy and I stayed at your resort the last week of Sept. Must say, very excellent place. The surf was great and it was good everyday. Definitely going to come back in the future. I am seriously thinking of Nica and your area as an investment opportunity for me, of course we must wait to see how these elections go next month. Regardless, I am interested. I think I left my heart in Nicaragua when I flew back to the states. If there is any information you can send me about properties in the area or that you may own, I would very much appreciate it. If I were able to make the move I would love to work with you or for you. You have a fantastic setup with a beachbreak in front to match.
Take care, God Bless, and please let John know that he was an excellent tour guide.
Sincerely,
Randy Larson

J.J., family & staff,

Wanted to drop a note to express my gratitude for providing me, my brother and best friend with such an awesome experience. John & Juan Carlos were unreal! Your staff really knows and understands how to deliver customer service and the waves, as good as it gets.

Anyway I wanted to send you some of my surplus fishing equipment (reels, lures..) but wasn't sure of the proper mailing address. If you could provide that to me I'll DHL some gear.

Hey JJ;

Great place down there! We had a fantastic time and all the surfing we could handle. We really thought John did a super job, making sure we were well taken care of, and making sure we were on the waves everyday. The lodge is obviously well thought out and the folks that work for you are top notch!

Thanks for having the water engineer review the Las Salinas system. What was his name? Could you send me his information when you get a chance?
I haven't gotten an e-mail from him yet so if you see or speak to him could you see if he got my e-mail address correctly?

Thanks again,
Mike and the rest of the executive group from last week.

We had a great time even though we missed the swell the beach breaks were still fun. The offshores all day the Howler monkeys the thunder storm in the middle of the night.I was very impressed with the dinners. John (Sgt Slaugter because of some of the beachbreak poundings we took) and he is a good photographer also was great. Thanks Mike Gallagher

Hey to the whole crew of Popoyo this is Austin (Trendel Group/June 10th-15th ). I wish I could of been there to see that massive swell right after I left. From the looks of it (Surfline.com) Nicaragua was defiantly blessed with waves through the duration of that swell. I can't wait to get back to the Lodge some day and visit all yall. My time there was awesome, It seemed so unreal to find so many inspiring people in one place in a country that I would of never of thought of visiting. Well I just wanted to let yall know to keep doing what your doing because I feel that it will defiantly make an impact, if it already hasn't on the surf culture in Nicaragua and eventually the world.

Please reply to Bob Fletcher:

Popoyo’s experience was unexpected, all employees, as well as, the staff over exceeded what past surf camp experiences have been. Service is superior.

Popoyo:

  1. In terms of a hotel, good water quality (I never got sick), non-stop electricity, but most of all, excellent food, and plenty of it. ( Lots of fruit during boat days)
  2. In terms of a surf camp, every morning at 5am our guide was at it, taking us surfing. In small days they knew where to go and score perfect barrels. (Never smaller than 7 feet faces)
  3. Crowds.- Out of the 8 spots we surfed, one spot was crowded and only after 2 hours of surfing. Most of the time we surfed by our selves.
  4. Boats.- Excellent boats, well maintained engines, never a shortage of fuel, double layer canopy for superior weather (sun and rain) protection, and experienced crew in tides and surf destination
  5. Transportation.- Excellent, Excellent, Excellent 4 x 4’s, mine swam through rivers and climbed steep mud hills.
  6. Wave Quality.- Excellent, Excellent, Excellent
  7. All waves, long and short, they all had barrels, long and short.

Sincerely;

Jorge Morales

Comments: Hello to JJ, Kim and their two beautiful girls, I'm sitting at work in Providence, RI, looking at how flat the surf is up here right now and how it doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon. Thanks for for your hospitality and a trip I will never forget, Peace and Love, Tyler

Comments: I visited this camp in May 2005. It was awesome. I can't say enough good things. The executive Cabina's are really nice so was the pool and hot tub. The food was fantastic and the guides were great. It also helps that we had several head high + days with no one out but us.

I will definately return to this camp.

Comments: My son, Skyler, and I had the surf trip of a lifetime at Popoyo Lodge in early April. The camp and crew were unbelievably cool, and are giving surfers a good name in Central America. The waves? Insane!! We surfed nothing that was less than overhead to double overhead. In Nica speak "no swell today" means that the waves are merely overhead. My 15 year old son didn't even know he was barreled a few times because he came out so dry! He's used to sloppy cold head dips in Southern California. The weather was perfect - not as hot as we thought it would be. Miles of beaches, reef breaks, A-frames, cobblestone points, etc., and the 4WDs and boat to get you to all the best spots. ZERO crowds. Because it is so uncharted you will be wasting your time if you don't spend a few days with the guys that know where to go and how to get there. The food and company is all time. But get to Popoyo now, because in a few years this will be THE spot in Central America. Eso!!!!

Comments: Another Sweet trip. I caught some of the biggest waves I've ever surfed. This is a must surf place and JJ will take care of you. Good eats at his place and he has the boat to take you to the best spots not easily accessible by Hilux. Got to meet the Noah's Arc crew while I was out there. They were shooting their video. I saw Noah Snyder pull into a barrell 3 times his height at Colorado. I definitely was spectating that day. Scary shiznet. I surfed at a little less sigon wave. My trips here get better and better. Thanks for the good times JJ and family...

Comments: If you're ever going to Nicaragua for vacation, surfing, or business you MUST go to this camp! You'll have the freedom to just rest and relax and enjoy good food, waves and company OR you can do what i recommend and push yourself to the max, physically, spiritiually and emotionally. I went there for the first week in March with a group of people and made real connections to myself and others. i want to send my love to jj and his family (who i didn't get to meet), kevin, corban, Jim, Kristin and Lance. **I think highly of you all & remember you often**
